Watercolor by Zach Day Lyrics
You know I can’t listen to your music
Cause I’m afraid you’d write about me
I can’t shape another note out of your body
And I can’t shake another song out of that tree
Am I hidden deep inside your lyrics?
I’m selfish when I think like that
Delusional in every single fiber
Of this shell of poetry and body fat
I’d drink you like water you go down smooth
And I’d paint you a martyr you live on the moon
And I’d buy you in color but go blind in a day
Cause you can’t take a lover straight out of the frame
I walked in the front door just right past the cops
And I didn’t have to crawl i just kept my eyes locked
And with sleight of hand I took down that art That masterpiece of manipulated fog
I analyzed the shadows the fingerprints and strokes
And when your face hit the sun I hid you in my clothes
I’d drink you like water you go down smooth
And I’d paint you a martyr you live on the moon
And I’d buy you in color but go blind in a day
Cause you can’t take a lover straight out of the frame
And soon enough they’ll catch me with my very best prize
And lock me away til the end of time
I’ll look back fondly on my failed plan
And rot away the same as my old man
Except you’re on display with nothing to hide back to square one
Away from the sun
And I’m in the dark like I’ve never been
Branded a thief
A “T” in my skin
I’d drink you like water you go down smooth
And I’d paint you a martyr you live on the moon
And I’d buy you in color but go blind in a day
Cause you can’t take a lover straight out of the frame
Cause I’m afraid you’d write about me
I can’t shape another note out of your body
And I can’t shake another song out of that tree
Am I hidden deep inside your lyrics?
