Huberts Video Game by Tim Sample Lyrics

Genre: misc | Year: 1983

But there was one good thing what came out of it
On the way home we happened to stop into one of these video arcades
You see them?
Oh its quite something, they're quite popular
But I said to mother, I said
You know
There's a lot of money in this
I said somebody ought to invest
Or develope a game, one of them video games that's orientated around Maine kids
Well of course we had been a little worried about our boy Hubert
I don't know how I can really describe Hubert
Hubert, let me see
Hubert is ah, he's good with his hands
He's numb as a hake but he's
He's good with his hands
He lives out in the barn
In a '57 De Soto
Right alongside the trailer
That was the last year they made them cars
And if you look at the one he lives in
You could see why
But uh I was a little concerned you know
So we thought maybe this would be a good project for Hubert
Well we told him 'bout it and boy he went right after it
Oh he was, you know I
There wasn't more than three or four days later he called mother and I out to give her a try
Well you know
Well we came out
I was impressed
He had that video game, stood about just the size that they do
Bout that big
Had one of them little canopies in there
You kind of get yourself intimate with that video game
Had that screen from the old filco wired right in there
Couple of buttons, there was already too many buttons on that car
The outside of that game was all nice barnboard
Gorgeous
Course if it was damp it kinda smelled a little bit of hendressing
But
And across the front of it was a little strip of that brushed chrome
Off the dashboard of that de Soto
And there was two little slots where you put your money in
There's two of them
Cause he had to set it up so it wouldn't take Canadian money
Now you see it will still take the Canadian money
It just don't give you a whole game, you understand
Well we put our quarters in see
And the first thing that happens
That screen jumps, lights right up, jumps right out at you
And right down from the top of the screen
Jiggling, just like that you see
Comes a little digital pulp truck
Just like real life right up on two wheels
On either side you know and
Wicked
Well you get ready
You see them come down through
And you think you got your timing right
Well you jab one of them buttons
Right across the bottom runs a little digital skunk
Now when you think you've got it just right see
Right to where you've got your timing down
Why you jab
And if you should happen to hit that just spot on you see
You don't get these wild, all these noises, kind of distractions
Just a nice smell comes out from underneath it
