Perspectives by Thomas Djossou Lyrics
[Part One]
First off welcome to The Room
Nothing is real here you might catch up soon
Statistics working against your crew
That's 20 of us, never enough of you
When in squads, we too shameless
Get like us or remain nameless
I will never break tradition
Allegiance before common sense
Here's my 2 cent's
Make it a dollar if you can just listen
No use in going against my coalition
Eliminate all ethical collisions
For you can never win
When we walk around in groups
Don't ask no question
And enter the troop
Or bloom on the wall
And enjoy the perks
Of being invisible
Not knowing your worth
You are nothing alone
The room will shrink
And suffocate all those
Who dare to think
That playing it safe
Is playing it same way
All your friends play it
Never self proclaiming
Your human right to be different
Comparing yourself to a bunch of peasants
Only concerned with pleasing
Whoever seems to lead the way
Are you afraid the walls shrink and spit you out
And that in shame you walk the miles to face the greatness of forever
With no one to shake you up when
You fail to awake from past failures
Shame on the human nature
For not giving us the ability to eat
Without peeking at our neighbor's plate
[Part Two]
Stuck between the options ,wishes to prove wrong my conclusion
That playing it safe, is playing it same way the others do it
Regardless of anything I say
How could I do things my way without knowing what my way is
As if the world ended daily, everyday is judgement day
The room shrunk too much, trying to fit in anyway
Sticks and stones can't shape the rock I became
But the words and actions of my friends define me more than my name
Narrow corridors I follow not to fall off into irrelevance
All black and white walls, no room for nuance
No room for difference, can't risk staining
The fresco of my reputation which defines my position
No questions ask, the dress code followed by each
Life is something school just can't teach
It needed to be experienced to the fullest
And can only be so when our devotion to the crew reaches its peak
I couldn't know better myself for I know nothing with certainty
No time for authenticity, I need them more than they need me
Besides, if I close my eyes and follow the hollow path of influence
They can't read me
