Being Black BLM by Theyhate_onjay Lyrics
I was born into activism
My skin color declared me an activist
All of my life has been dedicated to the painful art of resistance
Activism or pessimism
There is no side of neutrality
In Black skin, you do not have an option to choose, you can only
choose to ignore, or dissolve into pessimism, or fight as an activist
marching towards the ever moving target towards freedom
Tired of explaining what it’s like to be in this Black skin
Crushed by the debilitating blow of never getting my brother back
The cops killed him and that’s a fact because he was born a Black man
with a target on his back
Our birth certificates need to be changed to being born in “A state of
emergency”
When our Black babies leave the hospital, our worse fear is how will
our Black baby come back
Multiple gunshots left my brother dead and now my mother is all
messed up in the head
He was unarmed but harmed
Wrong color. Wrong place. Wrong time.
