Goodbye by The NonStick Pans Lyrics
It’s hard to sing and speak sincerely
I write these words from a real place
I guard and cling to thoughts so dearly
Yet I forget my mother’s face
Perhaps acceptance and denial go hand in hand
I know that’s how I have survived
But I would like to say goodbye
And throw away those notes I made
On all those days I kneeled and prayed
With squinting eyes and clasping hands
I built faith back up out of sand
And left it to the waves
To wash it back away
I hope these words aren’t too outspoken
As art works best when it’s unclear
I can’t be poignant and heartbrokеn
And vague so somebody will hear
But it’s not painful whеn I see her in my eyes
To me that’s proof she’ll never leave
Though I would like to say goodbye
I can’t prove there’s another plane
But her blood runs thick through my veins
And if you’ve lost a loved one too
Their voice lives on inside of you
And memories will thrive
As long as you’re alive
Forgive the language used that’s puerile
Just know that healing takes a while
I write these words from a real place
I guard and cling to thoughts so dearly
Yet I forget my mother’s face
Perhaps acceptance and denial go hand in hand
I know that’s how I have survived
But I would like to say goodbye
And throw away those notes I made
On all those days I kneeled and prayed
With squinting eyes and clasping hands
I built faith back up out of sand
And left it to the waves
To wash it back away
I hope these words aren’t too outspoken
As art works best when it’s unclear
I can’t be poignant and heartbrokеn
And vague so somebody will hear
But it’s not painful whеn I see her in my eyes
To me that’s proof she’ll never leave
Though I would like to say goodbye
I can’t prove there’s another plane
But her blood runs thick through my veins
And if you’ve lost a loved one too
Their voice lives on inside of you
And memories will thrive
As long as you’re alive
Forgive the language used that’s puerile
Just know that healing takes a while
