The futures fate by The Eleventh Sage Lyrics

Genre: pop | Year: 2020

We all see time in two different ways:
As a linear function or as a sausage where past, present and future
Are fused together in the same space
Yet regardless of this thought
We are curious about what lies ahead of us
We wonder, what lies beyond yonder
We are riddled with worries, fear, pain, and anxieties
Despite these deep human dispositions, the common thought prevails:
That the future is bright and colorful
Like it's already a ready-made snack for us
Well, all I see is a clean slate waiting for our artistic penmanship to stroke the lines, make designs
Spray some paints and cast some shades
No matter how faint
In a nutshell, all I'm trying to say
Is that the future is ours to create

I stand at the top of a hill
Looking down on faded hopes and colored dreams
Actions that spite our past and define our future
This is humanity dear, there's nothing truly pure
From this vantage point though, I can sense our fears
Our inner battles when we fight back all the tears
Or resign to fate
To dictate to its taste
Whether our dreams come late or they are laid waste
From this vantage point, I can see regrets
The well of tears brewing up in our dejected selves
I can see the depressing winding up themselves into an abyss of despair
Wishing they can pull back time to make things right
I can see the fulfilled man being laid to rest
But his children worries cos there's nothing left to fall upon anymore
So now they'd have to start from the scratch, kiss the dust
And wallow in the mud
Until the sun shines above and they are raised up
I can see those without a pinch of luck
Taking whatever comes at them with a resigned shrug
And from their point of view
What else is left to do?
They'd just keep up their hard work and tomorrow is another day of struggles
I can see reckless souls
Living their lives like there's always a tomorrow
A lot of tomorrows to play
A lot of tomorrows to mend today
And fix its mistakes
Well, we all know what became of them anyway
I can see warriors who fought with all their strength
They made their plans out and strategized to the end
Now they've made their plunder
It's people's turn to wonder
It's good to struggle today and enjoy it in the end
Yet from this vantage point, I can see grace
Those achieving their aim without having to strain their necks
Those who don't need ladders to reach the sky
All they'd do is to project their thoughts to light a match, create a spark and boom!
They're sure headed for the moon
I can hear the cheers and felicitations
Of the Divine act of procreation
I can hear the cries of the newborn child who'll grow to fill up his parents' empty tomorrow
I can see the happy parents cuddling their newborn future
Thanking their own parents for such a wonderful future
And these old grannies smiling softly at their future's future
I can see this future grow to become a positive trend
A perfect example for his peers
Making his mom smile proudly and his father boasts so wild
Yet on the flip side
I can see this future go rogue
Stray away from the right road
And do things terribly untold
I can see his kinsmen shaking their heads
And his kindly soft mom filling a well of tears
But what about the newborn child who doesn't get his own clean slate
To design his own future
For his good and the good of all
I can see those whose future ends today
And that right now they'd be at St. Peter's gate
Where every question spiritually and morally wise
God, on his heavenly throne, lovely replies
For all of us though, our future is death
When our bodies give way to that putrid stench
Decaying with each passing day
Dust returning to dust
In summary, what I see is all of us
Asking for the sun to give us its brightest day
But the cloud comes in and blocks its ray
And while we search through these clouds for a silver lining
Some of us get it while some of us get linings made of clay
And as The Sage
I rest my case
