Help Finding Positive Visual Lyrics by Talltriguy Lyrics
I'm looking for help! I'm trying to find lyrics which would probably fall in between conscious and not-conscious rap? Atmosphere might a good example
I'm looking for rap which doesn't involve:
- doesn't put drugs/weed in a positive light
- calls women bitches/hoes
- gangsta rap
- saying "I'm the best" (i.e. not so ego driven)
Does include:
- visual storytelling <- if there's someone who just draws a picture I'd like to hear about them!
- great, even complex lyrics
- dealing with difficulties/struggle with a positive outlook
- enjoying challenge
- making a positive difference in the world
- ... can I say ... ethnically neutral lyrics? I mean, I feel weird being a gangly white dude in Canada listening to Mos Def/Talib Kwali - the music is great...it's just the lyrics can be a bit alienating at times
Some of my favorites, just to give some examples?
Ten Thousand Hours, Make the Money, Same Love, Hold Your Head Up, Ego - Macklemore
The River Runs Deep - Tom Pepe
Cinderella Man, 25 to Life, Going Through Changes, Not Afraid, On Fire, Talkin' 2 Myself - Eminem
As Small as a Giant, Gumpshun, *Voices*, See Me On Top, Moon & Stars - Big K.R.I.T
Moment of Clarity - Jay Z
Rise Above, Crunch Time, Lights Please, Lost Ones - J. Cole
Hip-Hop Saved My Life - Lupe Fiasco
Higher, Starry Eyed, Last Words, Money - An0maly
Sunshine, The Best Day, Hope, The Major Leagues, Scalp, Loser Wins, Shotgun - Atmosphere
Mathematics - Mos Def (my gateway song)
Ambition - Wale
Remember the Name - Fort Minor (yeah, it's a good song)
