Introduction One Piano - Live by Richard Stilgoe Lyrics
[Spoken]
STILGOE
I can’t play this piano
SKELLERN
You say that every time
STILGOE
I can’t. What are we going to do?
SKELLERN
I dunno about you, but I’m gonna play MY piano
STILGOE
Oh, I see. Sorry about this. Good evening. Welcome to the world’s first pro celebrity piano recital
[Laughter]
STILGOE
During the course of this evening, I shall sing several songs that were topical in 1971, and Peter Skellern will favour you with a medley of his hit
[Laughter]
STILGOE
You… you will notice that, um, we have a slight problem
SKELLERN
YOU have a slight problem
STILGOE
WE have a slight problem, in that the management has only provided ONE decent piano… for Petеr…
SKELLERN
Look, why don’t you get rid of yours? Take those away, and I’ll play somеthing
STILGOE
Well, just this once. Something fast, short, and lively. Get the thing going. Right?
[Skellern plays intro to "You're a Lady"]
SKELLERN
[sings] Now the evening...
STILGOE
[interrupting] I think it's a pity to waste that one so early on, don't you? I think so. We're going to find a way of sharing this piano
SKELLERN
My piano
STILGOE
Your piano. Yes
