Caesar Gateway Essay

Brutus portrayed himself as the hero in 2 ways his personal and political beliefs and his motives for making life changing decisions.
Brutus characterizes and political beliefs make him portray himself as a hero, because he wants to kill Caesar.” Which so appearing to the common eyes, we shall be called purgers not murderers” (document E). Brutus believes that killing Caesar will make them look like they were getting rid of something bad. Thus seem like heroes. This is the main reason why they killed Caesar because they want to protect the people of Rome.” O, that we then could come by Caesar’s spirit, and not dismember Caesar” (document E). Brutus believes that Caesar’s spirit is the thing that killed him. If Caesar would have paid more attention to the people of his own spirit they wouldn’t be doing this. These beliefs of Brutus prove that Brutus believes that what he is doing is justified and he is a hero to the Roman people.
Brutus motives for making the choice to kill Caesar???? “But, Caesar must bleed it “(Document E). Brutus is saying that after dealing with Caesar and his long reign he must die. This proves that Brutus’s motivation was that Caesar was considered as a king. Brutus was a man who did not think that Rome should be ruled or controlled by one man.” And let our hearts, as subtle masters do, stir up their servants to an act of rage, and after seem to chide them.” (Document E)They believe that they need to kill him because it’s right but after they do it they should be ashamed even though what they did was not wrong. This proves that Brutus refuses to believe that what his is planning is murderous and wrong. Brutus’s motivation was that he believed that Caesar was a selfish leader and that what he was doing was justified. This intern (in his mind) supported his actions.
Brutus was a very gullible guy. He believed whatever Cassius said and he even incorporated it into his own thinking and understanding. This motivated his actions. In the end Brutus truly believed that he was doing something good for his people. Even though thought was noble his actions was not.
