Good Times by Oliver Throne Lyrics
(Verse 1)
This one night I was hanging out, just trying to wheel
Relaxing over a nice drink, good friends & a good meal
Then I got a message of something that was completely unreal
I stuttered through my story as I read this text
I felt a sinking feeling deep inside of my chest
As I washed my hands free of the grease
My pain began to quickly increase
I looked in the mirror & asked when will this cease?
When will all of this violence finally end?
Why will people stop taking the lives of my friends?
Another fricken funeral?
Why can't they people realize this lifestyle is really unsuitable?
How does one reconcile what another wants to defile?
What one holds in darkness in hopes to live in denial?
Life might be a sight see, but I'm afraid that I might go blind
With all of my random emotions, & life's crazy commotions
With tears in my eyes I know my heart has spoken
Trying to clear the air between us
Forget all the smoking
(Hook)
Take me back to, these old good times, where we'd freestyle & enjoy these good rhymes. Civic joyrides. Skateboard, bike rides, take me back to, these old good times
(Verse 2)
It makes no sense, you gain no cents
Bullets & blood, the mixture of the two gives off ravaging scents
Whether it be terrorist attacks or even on these streets where people do these sense acts
I see no benefit to anyone
Go show etiquette to everyone
Earlier this year I had to shed another tear
Kidnapped from his room
Sentenced to doom that left so many in gloom
Recluse over a reckless mess that I can't fully express in a poem
So I'll go ahead show them
It was a friend who killed a friend
Only forgiveness can this mend
If we only educate we can reduce all of this hate, because if we get smarter, all of this evil will be harder
But if you teach a man all of life's facts
He'll not only take bolts but steal all the tracks
This situation is critical & you can't tell me it's clinical
Rather there's something within these hearts that is making us go cynical
It's part of our being since our day old umbilical
(Outro)
Bullets through the door struck him right in the core
As our bodies fell to the floor
I realize in both of my eyes, those shots never met me
Protected & his life was taken
They were meant for me
It hurts the physical but it scars me mentally
Long ago we'd doubt faith & say it was irrational
We'd say God was not tangible & belief in the invincible & invisible was laughable
But I say to you, there is only reason, to have Jesus to believe in
This one night I was hanging out, just trying to wheel
Relaxing over a nice drink, good friends & a good meal
