Life by Mikey Jay Lyrics
[Verse 1]
I watched my parents marry in 2000
I watched my life change in 2000
I watched myself outside of boundaries
And let the emptiness all bound me
And those kids on the playground didn't care
We all knew we had to stay there
And I met a big supporter at my day care
Me and five others would just play there
Then I went to read books and became rare
My glasses on, and my long hair
I met other people who would dare
To defy all the obstacles that laid there
I had to find pieces of my dreams
And re-sew them on these seams
And complete my reality by all means
And not everything was what it all seems
To be, that this world is a hurtful Earth
Where people die and it's not the worse
A mass genocide heard over several hertz
And the images of planes now still hurts
Men became savages when a girl flirts
Some people sell dope because they think it all works
Benefits of growing up is knowing all the perks
It's either money or not giving in to all the jerks
You just gotta know what works
Live your life, this is the season to get it back
Live it right, this is the reason to stay on track
[Verse 2]
I watched people go, especially Kathy
And at one point, we were both happy
But now we don't talk and it's strange
How you get so close and then you change
Now some friends I have have kids of their own
And a couple others dropped out and bought a home
And in this world, it seems people remain alone
And we strive to be in this zone
Where we stay and our success is all overgrown
And a capital could never all be blown
If I had it, maybe I would give back
I know some public schools that would like that
The day I wrote to Linda Coval, I set a goal
I never looked back, I always was on a roll
Them teachers in the back that were throwing shade
Said I couldn't behave and that I would repeat fourth grade
But hear me now, I'm the student to be
Your eyes must be blind if you couldn't believe
I took it all to heat and made this real
Put some salt in your blood, tell me how it feels
And I hope you realize doubt is poisonous now
I'm the equivalent of the hardest liquor that you've taken down
But my illest will is a blessing
So I just had to learn this lesson
Live your life, this is the season to get it back
Live it right, this is the reason to stay on track
I watched my parents marry in 2000
I watched my life change in 2000
