Julius Caesar essay
Shakespeare portrays Brutus as a noble man in his play “Julius Caesar”, In the play he wants a strong government and not one man, He also thinks if he kills Caesar (like motivation) he will get what he wants a democracy.
Brutus believes that Rome should have a democracy. He doesn’t want it to be ruled by one man. “Not that I loved Caesar less but that I loved Rome more.”(Character Background) At first Brutus thought it was a bad idea to kill Caesar. Then Cassius motivated him telling him he could be as famous as Caesar and have his power. That just shows Brutus’s motivation for his action.

“Why should that name be sounded more than yours? Write them together, yours is as fair a name.” ("Masters of Their Fates" Speech) Cassius ultimately gets Brutus on his side to kill Caesar, to build a new Rome. Cassius thinks Caesar has too much power, as well as Brutus. Although Brutus doesn’t want to do something rash so soon he gets tempted by Cassius.

Casca first, then the other Conspirators and Brutus stab Caesar. "Et tu, Brute?” (Act 3 scene 1) After the death of Caesar Brutus gave a speech. He tried to explain to the people the death of Caesar was for a good reason and not for blood. Then after Brutus’s speech Antony gave a speech to try to get people to believe it was for blood using persuasion.
After the speeches they sought to fight. Cassius and Brutus were going against Antony. They both had no chance against Antony and ended up losing. After the loss cassius decided to kill himself. Shortly after Brutus decides to kill himself to but decides to give one last speech basically saying goodbye to all his men then runs himself with his sword.

In conclusion Brutus wanted a free Rome. He got what he wanted by killing his friend. He gave a speech after to say it was for a good cause. Antony had different ideas. Brutus and Cassius went to fight Antony and lost. They both lost and both killed each other after.
