Hard Questions Easy Answers by JMA Lyrics
[Intro]
[Verse 1]
Human beings are so complicated and complexed
Because we're fearfully and wonderfully made – this is the context
From where our questions start to rise, our brains want to create concepts
So that we would understand the meaning and content
Of this life. We need to make sense and learn from our mistakes
But we won't ever learn if we don't take some mis-steps
And use our cerebral cortex, to recognize them and finally correct
Our wrongs and defects
In order to survive in this world that is getting more and more complexed
Where life is seen as a strive for survival and an ongoing contest
We have to be able to learn, develop and adjust, not just protest
Or we won't be able to grow, win and pass life's tests
Life is complicated not only on a global, grander level
But we all have our daily struggles and challenges, our own devils
Our own demons to battle with, our own battles to fight
Secret sins, private problems, depressing dysfunctions to face
You might think that somebody else is doing better than you
But what you see on their social media is what they choose
To show. You can't see everything. You might see their skills
But what you don't know is that they haven't found their purpose, and it kills
And here I am, full of doubts, because even though I do have a purpose
I lack abilities and provision. I'm sick of still being dependent on my parents, I feel like a burden
For not making my own living and even worse, I feel like I'm not making an impact...
But what if I'm expecting too much of myself and I just can't see that?
Because at least I have a passion and I'd rather have that
Than all the skills that I need to fulfill the purpose I still haven't found yet
Because purpose is what carries through, whether you have everything you need or nothing at all
And provision will always follow it, that’s why, despite of my questions, I keep pressing on
[Hook]
It's okay to ask, doubt, and question
How else will you learn your lesson? (Oo-oo)
How would you get to the essence
Of the answer, if you don't wrestle? (Oo-oo)
[Verse 2]
In order to have a good foundation, you have to question what you're standing on
Like with sky-diving, it doesn't really matter what you’ll be landing on
But what matters is that your parachute is working and it opens at the right time
That's why you have to check it. It's the same with faith: it better not be blind
Doubting and being skeptical about your beliefs has a similar effect
Because if what you believe in, is really the unshakable truth, it will only get
Stronger, the more you explore, question, dig and detect –
That's what we often neglect, but only this way our faith can become perfect
The firmness of the house is determined by its foundation
If your faith is built upon easy answers and oversimplifications
It will never stand life's testings and trials or peoples' hard questions
It will just fall apart and although it might have been true, you started to question
Because you just weren't fully sure of your own confession
Because it hadn't become personal, it was just an expression
Of what other people had told you, but it hadn't become a private conviction:
You hadn't had a personal revelation, accompanied with reason
But at the end of the day, reason only supports revelation, not the other way
Because faith is like a hot air balloon: it's the air that lifts the weight
And reason is just the basket you build for a more comfortable flight
Because if you could understand everything with it, you'd never need faith
Know that God is in the tension, and in this one too
Between reason and revelation, that's where you find the truth
He can bring a solution, where no one can, so just let Him move
When you ask and question, your faith can improve
[Hook]
It's okay to ask, doubt, and question
How else will you learn your lesson? (Oo-oo)
How would you get to the essence
Of the answer, if you don't wrestle? (Oo-oo)
[Verse 3]
There is no point in giving easy answers to hard questions
Because ultimately, they won't satisfy. Our mission
Is to dig deep, to seek the truth, not just stay on the surface
A lot of the times behind easy answers is a fear to face
The real problem and the consequences that might come
Or we just don't know the answer and fear to look dumb
But that kind of behavior is problematic because oversimplification
Will always lead to bad solutions, stereotypes, and weak foundation
It's just a quick fix that won't really solve the problem –
Easy answers to hard questions are like drugs that will get you high for a moment
But you'll be soon back to the reality, still not satisfied with the answer
Like painkillers can help you to cope with pain but won't cure cancer
That’s why it's difficult to solve any kind of severe situation
Good solutions take time and a lot of perseverance to cope with tension
It's not just a saying that "Good things take time," it's real
That's why "You should never rush the cooking of a good idea!"
Because real people with real lives will be affected by your choices
So, we as Christians, need to do more than just yell – as loud as our voices
Can handle – the truth from the rooftops; we should climb down, like Jesus
To messy situations, get close and near, not just argue and reason
But actually, help people heal, show them understanding and compassion
Help them fight their demons and find their passion
It's easy to give cookie-cut answers and well-sounding clichés
But sometimes people need you to really engage
With them and not just sympathize, but empathize with their pain
Not just giving the right answer, but also doing it the right way, should be your aim
Because love is a far greater force than just giving lessons
People will be drawn to the Message
Not because of the way we talk, but the way we walk
Not by the way we ought, but the way we are
That is why grace should always go with truth
Works should always accompany our words
As actions speak far louder than words to the world
It's time to really make ourselves heard
[Outro]
