Self by Evan Elliott Lyrics

Genre: misc | Year: 2014

What is a man but an organic machine?
A collection of interfaced tube pumping energy from one place to another
A hairless ape that’s only superiority to its brothers
Is its belief that that is so
It reminds me of hubris
To see that we place our selves above those who we perceive to see less
When we are unable to fathom many a thing beyond us
We belief we deserve a kiss on the temple
And others piss on their face.
We praise our selves as pinnacles
Without knowing or asking why
We are vehicles for a clinical trail
That we without slowing decry
In all but the select we support
Or purport to be
The status of flag carriers of humanity
Us melanin painted machines
We only see our own hopes and dreams
And ignore the themes
That emanate from our existence
And the lesson remains consistent
That we are all just the same little beings on the same rock
No matter how high you walk
In past eras this construct of some great humanity has driven pain
For personal gain
And wedges and weapons
Better than any time spent counting your blessings
And silenced many a hopeful heart
From the very start
Persons in a movement
Stopped in their tracks
Driven back by what the truth said
At the time
Designed by the few dead
Saints
Epistle written by apostles who still stand strong
With stone cold contraposto
Done quodammodo
To attain basic levels is a struggle
For any of those
Outside the bubble
Because we stand
On a self centrist stance
They can’t join If they don’t know the dance
And the push continues still from the sufferjets
To other gents
Who wish to stand as equals
For the self, and not the soul
And antiquated alpha and omega
Holds the defining role
If you think you are and all do so they are
The truth beyond truth that reaches to the stars
Cogno ergo sum
I know I exist
Mind body soul true tribune that holds grip on what we are
Issued by Descartes
Plato name dropped for marks
Head drives your intelligence
and the thirsts for it
Body drives hunger and desire
And makes you work for it
Soul is the spiritual
Debated definer of the self
Feed on poetry and music
See if that helps
Dualism and the mind
Body and soul separate
What makes a man?
Intrinsic existence or something god blessed with?
A robot or an android
A conscious thinker or an if-then mover
Alive or fiber glass facsimile
What is human in a super computer?
A room can communicate if given the proper knowledge
Can a machine ever know with out masters commands
If we can speak to it, and believe its is of us
Then its consciousness must be solid
Can it contain memories?
Like posotronic brains
Can a computer know a sunrise?
And have the experience the same?
I don’t know
But I’d like to think so
cause I've changed over time
A dynamic mind
With existentialist thought
What I was then I am not
Mind moved beyond static rot
A self with no soul
Reverse of thoughts old
