Sonic.exe: The Cataclysm good ending variant by Epic Octoling Lyrics
My name is Mina Takaichi (most people call me Park Mi-na), and I was just your run-of-the-mill Japanese-South Korean schoolgirl who casually strolls around Toronto, or at least, I still am. Well today was just crazy as shit. My friend Eva went missing a few weeks ago, and I've been hearing the Canadian girls gossip about an American girl named Regan Beesley, who apparently commit suicide due to a CD-R with black marker on it labeled "SONIC.EXE".
Yeah. I purchased that from a pawn.
I went home and booted up the Windows XP I use for home video game console emulation, primarily the Sega Genesis.
Once I booted up the computer and installed SONIC.exe, I noticed that it was the first Sonic the Hedgehog game from 1991. That was cool, but when I pressed Enter (start button if on Sega Genesis controller), it was…mildly unnerving.
There were three (and only three) characters I could select; Tails, Knuckles, and Dr. Ivo "Eggman" Robotnik.
I mean, who plays as Ivo, for fuck's sake?
I selected Tails since he was the first one.
The zone was instead titled "HILL Act 1". It was just Green Hill Zone with 5 minutes of flat grass. Until Tails started seeing bloody carcasses.
White text appeared 45 seconds later that read:
"HELLO.
DO YOU WANT TO PLAY WITH ME?"
I don't know what this meant, but I was teleported to Angel Island, but everything in it was burning.
Without hesitation, I made Tails run to the right. As soon as Sonics began popping around the screen, I made Tails do a spin dash, but ohh! Sonic was just a micrometer away from Tails!
As soon as Tails hit the right, text popped up saying:
"TAILS GOT THROUGH ACT 1!"
Holy shit. Did I make it?
I was brought back to the save select screen, where Tails was gone from the box, and the TV above him showed a green checkmark with text below that says "Tails survived!"
Without further hesitation, I selected Knuckles.
Knuckles' zone was apparently Scrap Brain, except it appeared to be different. Too lazy to list.
I made Knuckles move to the right anyways, until text popped up saying "NOT SO FAST".
"YOU WON'T ESCAPE THIS TIME, MINA" it said.
I was hearing this annoying screamer for a few minutes, until the platform Knuckles was on was 75% cracked.
I made Knuckles do a hidden move; break the platform. I led Knuckles to a ring and I passed again.
Like Tails' box, it said "Knuckles survived!" with another green checkmark in the TV screen with Knuckles nowhere to be seen.
I then selected Ivo. This game is a cakewalk for some reason. They think I was gonna break this monitor. Oh no, this is a fuckin' cakewalk.
I made Ivo move through a zone named "…". About 13 minutes in, Sonic appeared in the 3rd hallway. However, I pressed A and it somewhat made Ivo move back.
I made him sprint at least, which causes Sonic to disappear. A red ring appeared. I made Ivo go through it and it said I passed.
When I returned to the save select screen, all of the characters had survived!
Who knew this was a breeze! It looked scary, but it's just an attempt to troll!
The screen went pitch black 5 seconds later. Text appeared saying:
"I'M SURPRISED
SOMEHOW YOU PASSED THE GAMES
HOW DO YOU FEEL ABOUT YOURSELF?
YOU PUT THEM AT RISK YET THEY LIVE
IS THIS YOUR MANIFESTATION? IS THIS YOUR REALITY?
…
WHATEVER…
I THOUGHT I WAS THE ULTIMATE LIFE FORM…
NO ONE EVER PASSED
EXCEPT YOU, MINA
YOU MADE THE CHARACTERS LIVE
VERY VERY INTERESTING."
The game closed itself. I heard my doorbell ring five minutes after the game closed. I checked the front door to see who was trying to annoy me the fuck out.
Apparently, a plate of two chili dogs was left on the deck's table.
Well, whoever is manifesting Sonic, It seems to have come to the point that they've delivered me chili dogs.
