BLOSSOM RAIN by Elizabeth LaFavre Lyrics
Songbird’s sweet melody
Too young to carry a tune
Too young to take flight
In the quiet dreamy night
Unseen hands orchestrating
The final countdown
Maestro stepping in
Just in the nick of time
Grouching and crouching
Slowly coming out
Of the shadows
Squint my eyes to block the sun
Smile that can vaporize
Eyes that pierce
Like an arrow
Barreling towards its victim
Killer looks
With baby-eyed innocence
The shape
The form
The gentle touch
Belies the giant
That lives within
Quietly powerful
Silent thunder
Turns mе to dust
Need to run for cover
‘Cause I know I ain’t
Getting outta hеre without
Becoming a changed man
Moonbeam smile
Velvet lips
Graceful hands with
Spider fingertips
Rose petal face that
Glows in the night
Almost like
The Northern Lights
Skin as soft as sunshine
On a balmy day
Spirit that won’t let go
Like a sticky burr
You just can’t shake
Leaving you crying in its wake
Cannot comprehend
The magnitude
The enormity
Of tonight’s sweet dream
Two seas of passion merging
In a symphony of delight
Waves crashing and curling
Kelp dancing and unfurling
Seahorse poised to join in
Right at the crescendo
In the still of the night
Tension borders on the absurd
Hearts a bursting at the seams
Vague memories of a time recalled
God playing joker
Waiting on the sidelines
With a hot poker
Amused by the
Art of flirting
And the non-verbal
Language of love
No time for hesitating
Or worrying about
What used to be
Or over-analyzing
What to do next
Tomorrow is today
The time to act is now
Or be trapped forever
In a sea of regret
Forever questioning
Where it all went wrong
But knowing full well
The day
The time
And the place
Where it all
Went wrong
Blossom rain turning me
Inside out
Outside in
Swept up in a lullaby
Swirling
Twirling
Lovers dancing in
The enchanted garden
Recurring memories
That won’t fade
Round and round we go
Dancing in tandem
Like the baby robin
Who’s just learnin’
How to fly
Under construction…

POEM #2 - “QUEEN ELIZABETH”
Flowers flowing
Green ferns blowing
Spinning round and round
Forming a crown
Upon my head
Look like
Queen Elizabeth
In disguise
Dressed in her
Bejweled uniform
Necklace weighing her down
Jacket and skirt
With matching pin
And gloves
Don’t forget the hat
The cherry on top
She can’t wait ‘til
The show’s over
So she can shut the door
And be left alone
With her thoughts
A million eyes watching
Her every move
It surely is a mad
Mad world
Lonely lady has
To play the role
Of a lifetime
But silent tears
And relentless fears
Of being outed
As an imposter
Dominate her
Daily thoughts
A sad lonely life
Filled with strife
And lost loves
Crown twists tight
Like a vise
Ready to turn
The life of those
Who wear it
Upside down
Sapphires
Diamonds
Rubies
Sitting on the sill
Give her no pleasure
Sad lady with pale blue eyes
Who cries
When no one
Is around
When no one can hear
The sound of her heart
Doubled over
Heart splitting in two
Under construction…

Poem #3 and #4 -
“BLOSSOM RAIN” and “HURRICANE MAN”
(Split or make one poem?)
Blossom rain
Will you shield me
From my pain
Blossom rain
Will you shield me
From my pain
Turning me
Inside out
Outside in
Swirling
Twirling
Swept up in a lullaby
Floating in the wind
Like a feather
Bracing for a landing
Wearing my heart out
On my sleeve
Waiting for my hurricane man
Waiting for my hurricane man
Torture
Can’t take in no more
Need you here now
Don’t want to wait
Another lifetime
Another 100 years
‘Til we meet again
Been teetering
On the edge
For so long
Waiting for my soulmate
My hurricane man
Who doesn’t even
Know my name
Driving me insane
Summons me
Then forgets
Breaks the spell
But doesn’t dwell
On the magnitude
The enormity
Of what he’s done
Carries on like
Nothing happened
Then memories flicker
In his subconscious brain
Starts to retrace
His steps
Then stumbles back
And falls again
Into the deep sea
Of forgetting
Now stuck in park
Things look pretty dark
Unless I can wake
Him up all over again
Tsunami of colors
Textures and sound
About to take flight
In the blossom rain
Falling snow
Sparkling rainbows
That twist and turn
Caterpillar is changing again
From his earthly shell
To Madame Butterfly
Who can dip and soar
Don’t need no oar
Branching out
In the morning mist
Looking for that
Sweet morning dew
Nectar replete
With nourishment
The replenishment
Of my heart and soul
Pitter patter
Tapping on
My window pane
Birds swooping in
Looking for cover
They know the truth of it
Secrets beyond
The grave
The mystery of
God’s tinkering
With man’s brain
Why the angels’ chorus
Still sings
Despite what we’ve done
To our disappearing world
My hurricane man
My hurricane man
Where are you now?
Singing for the crowd
No doubt
Please don’t keep me
Waiting any more
Long for your touch
Don’t want
To be alone any more
Come find me
On that balcony
Where you
First saw me
Waiting in the wings
Who is that
Magnificent lady?
He said to me
Looking up at me
Kept wondering
Where has he seen
Me before?
Still waiting for you
Please come find me
Don’t want to
Be alone no more
I’ve come to speak
With you again
Remember that little room
That we called home
Before the night
Splits us in two
We only have time
For today
Time bending
And stretching
For me and for you
Life’s a mystery
Tick tock
No time for
Hesitating
Tick tock
Knipping at our heels
Trying to steal
Our thunder
Trying to steal
Our joy
Bracing for that final war
Armageddon
Running faster
Than I’ve ever
Dared to before
Cause I know
That my life
Depends on it
Fall and they’ll be
No second chances
Wind chimes
Dancing
Swaying
In the wind
A chorus line of
Angels singing
Gregorian chants
Fill the air
Inviting
All the creatures
Of the forest
To join the final battle
A new day will dawn
A brighter day
For all to see
But first we
Face an accounting
The redemption
The light will be so bright
Need to shield your eyes
From the glory
From the story
Once foretold
Of that devine
Intervention
Keep forgetting
What we already know
Keep forgetting
What we already know
Haunted by vague memories
Of a time recalled
Of a tale we’ve
Heard before
About the land
Where we once
Roamed free
Walking the
Narrow streets
Of cobblestone
Flashes of a time
Deeply embedded
In our subconscious
Knowing all along
Not admitting it
Even to ourselves
Gobsmacked!
Collision of realities
Quietly powerful
Sweet Mary
Gazing upon me
Telling me it’s time
To write the last song
A story that is both
Old and new
Bound to pack
A punch when
I cut to the chase
The brutal truth
Once spoken
Can not be undone
I raise my hands
To the sky
And ask for an
Embrace
Before rehearsing
My alibis
For my midnight confessions
With the God who
Decides my fate
Firmly plant
My weary legs
In a prayer-like stance
Gonna beg for mercy
Gonna look into
Those blue-green
Diamond eyes
Otherworldly winds
Of time
Gently rushing
In my mind
Echoes of the past
Dancing in my head
Rain softly
Hitting the ground
Leaves
Me breathless
Not in a good way
Clutch my sheets of dread
In my head
In my bed
Fearing the worst
Trembling fingers
A sweet sorrow
Replete with regret
Arresting me
Paralyzing me
But then a warm golden glow
Greets me
Enveloping me
In sweet tenderness
In sweet love
A final revelation
I don’t have
To be perfect
It’s okay
To have flaws
Mind-blowing
Serenity
I now understand
What that word means
A newfound hope
And inspiration
Sleep well
Little one
Wild horses
Racing
To the scene
To join us
In that final war
To fight for our soul
To fight for our
Disappearing world
Beg for forgiveness
For all our
Delinquencies
Click clack
Horses race
To bring me back
To the place
I used to know
My days of glory
And shame
Swords gutting me
Cutting me
With deadly intent
Straight through
To the heart
For all the mistakes
That I’ve made
Getting down
To the truth of it
To the heart of the matter
Despite all the chatter
God is forgiving
Now I understand
Why the angels sing
Our dance while in the trance
Has only just begun
A new day will dawn
The bluebird
Will once again fly free
Bringing tranquility
And we will see the rain
Before we see the
Rainbow break through
Witnessing the rebirth
Of our sweet earth!
Too young to carry a tune
Too young to take flight
In the quiet dreamy night
Unseen hands orchestrating
The final countdown
Maestro stepping in
Just in the nick of time
